I haven't been to this doctor for 25 years because I no longer live there but just rated him on rate MD's. He was/is one of the very best! It's true that he's not punctual, but that's part of what makes him so good. The only reason he's not punctual (or at least wasn't then) is/was because his patients are seen as humans instead of time clocks and he always gives/gave them the time that either they or he needed in order to accurately diagnose their problems. Because his lack of punctuality is what makes him one of the best doctors in Canada, I gave him a 5 in punctuality on Rate MD's and will do the same here. His lack of it isn't because he's irresponsible; quite the contrary. He's extremely dedicated and works more hours than most. As far as I'm concerned, punctuality in doctors is not an asset. In fact, it should be considered a detriment. Punctuality may please a few impatient people, but a doctor who takes more time with his patients is able to understand them and make a proper diagnosis much faster and with greater accuracy than one who requires 10 more visits totalling 30 to 50 minutes to finally get the picture. So many doctors today misdiagnose and mistreat things before they finally get time to hear and see the entire picture several months later, and by then the patient has suffered for so long and could even have been harmed by the misdiagnosis. Dr. O'Neill's "lack" of punctuality is a profound asset. Dr. O'Neill took the time to learn not only about the problems in patient's bodies, but also the ones in their minds. I think of this doctor every single time I see problems in others that were similar to mine once and often repeat the words he said to me in hopes that I too can keep them off of the ever so destructive paths that he kept me from. The world desperately needs more doctors like him. Most other doctors are little other than pill pushers. So if you have to wait for your turn to see him between patients, don't fret. If ever you run into serious problems yourself that can't be taken care of with a bottle of pills, he will be the best doctor you could ever find and you will get all of the time you need too. Sorry, I know you said to make this short, but with a really good doctor it's not that easy.
